building for our community

We are currently dependent on renting court time from private institutions and other organizations. Access can be difficult, infrequent and limited. Ownership and rental policies of these spaces change often. Having a space that we can rely on would allow us to provide stable programming for all the youth that sign-up, and create space for growth in attendance.

PBP has been undergoing difficulties running various training sessions for more than 50 youth. Private institutions have limitations and can deny our access, sometimes with little notice. As a result, we are not capable of serving as many youth that show interest without securing a large space to play. We are also not able to serve as many youth as we have in years past. Even when we can access a private court, we still have had to cut the number of training sessions depending on the amount of need from other organizations. We target and encourage youth to join who are most vulnerable to be potential victims to the drug and gang organizations in our community. We cannot fulfill our mission to the best of our ability without reliable program space.

Our dream is to bring another court to the Arumeru community! Pamoja, our friends and neighbors, and other youth organizations will have a new home. The opportunities for youth programming will grow. We are partnering with schools, artists, and food growers to bring this stadium to life.

The current stadium plan will create space for up to 280 youth at one time! The stadium will allow us to play rain or shine, will provide lockers, changing spaces, drinking fountains, and bathrooms for players. Open to the community, we are giving space to our families and friends for gatherings, celebrations, classes, gardening, and providing a safe haven to hang out.

More so, we are developing partnerships that will help us utilize the roof to collect water during the rainy season and have water available to grow food. Working with experts in the field, we are sizing our structure to collect and 40,000 liters of water per year.

What does it cost to build the court?

We are seeking donations and your support to make this happen! Please see below for what we need for each phase’s fundraising goals.

Phase 1 - Buy land. Phase 2 - Hire a local construction crew to build. The architectural drawings are being developed pro-bono by our board members. Phase 3 - When the stadium is complete, we hope to raise money to pay for our coaches' time for each program.
